Mummy, loving husband and lovely daughter were out for a walk in the woods one day. These sorts of occasions were always good opportunities to bring back pieces of nature to decorate the tortoise house. Some items already picked up over time have been pine cones, pieces of bark and pebbles. Today however, something else caught mummy’s eye – a meter long, heavy looking log to be exact! That, she thought, would be ideal for climbing on and burying under.
Said log however, was rather a lot of kilometres from home and weighed quite a few kilos. Perhaps, she ventured, it would look amazing in the newly extended tortoise house. Loving husband pulled a face and wondered whether mummy was being serious and realized just what she was suggesting. She was and she did and so loving husband proceeded to carry the log on his shoulder for the next 2 kilometres, until they could find somewhere to hide it and return to collect it in the car. Mummy did feel a bit bad, but the thought of how great it would look in the house, especially at Christmas with lights adorning it, outweighed her guilt.
It has to be said, the log looks fantastic and is perfect for climbing and burying under. In the end, mummy decided against the Christmas lights, being that they probably weren’t the safest thing for inquisitive minds and strong beaks.
